Bobble Stitch (MB)

Intermediate Textured

A small raised bobble made by working several stitches into one and closing them back down.

Work to the stitch where the bobble is placed.
Make 5 stitches from 1: knit into the front, back, front, back, and front of the same stitch without dropping it off the left needle, then slip the original stitch off.
Turn your work and purl all 5 new stitches.
Turn again and knit all 5 stitches.
Turn once more and purl all 5 stitches.
Turn a final time, then one at a time, lift the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th stitches over the first stitch and off the needle — one stitch remains, and the bobble is complete.
Continue in pattern across the row.

More rows worked back and forth on the 5 stitches makes a bigger, more raised bobble — the version above (4 rows) gives a medium bobble; adjust to taste.
Bobbles pull in the surrounding fabric, so scatter them with at least a stitch or two of plain fabric between to avoid puckering.
Working the closing lift-over stitches snugly, but not tight, keeps the bobble round instead of lopsided.
