A tall, open basic stitch worked with two yarn overs before inserting the hook, for loose, fast-draping fabric.
Instructions
- Yarn over twice before inserting your hook.
- Insert your hook into the next stitch.
- Yarn over and draw a loop back through — four loops now sit on your hook.
- Yarn over and draw through the first two loops only — three loops remain.
- Yarn over again and draw through the next two loops — two loops remain.
- Yarn over once more and draw through the last two loops.
- Move to the next stitch and repeat.
Tips & Notes
- The standard turning chain for treble crochet is 4 chains, which usually counts as the first stitch of the new row.
- Each extra starting yarn over adds one more "pull through two" step and roughly another half-stitch of height — treble is essentially a double crochet with one extra wrap and pull.
- Treble crochet fabric is quite open and drapey, so it's often paired with a firmer stitch like single crochet for structure at the edges.
