Tunisian Knit Stitch (Tks)

Intermediate Tunisian

A Tunisian crochet variation that mimics the look of knit stockinette fabric.

Chain the number of stitches your pattern calls for, using a Tunisian hook.
Foundation forward pass: work exactly as in Tunisian simple stitch, drawing up a loop through each chain and leaving them on the hook.
Work the return pass exactly as in Tunisian simple stitch, leaving 1 loop on the hook at the end.
Forward pass on later rows: instead of inserting under the vertical bar, insert your hook front-to-back between the front and back vertical strands of the next stitch, yarn over, and draw up a loop; repeat across, leaving all loops on the hook.
Work the return pass exactly as in Tunisian simple stitch.

The only real difference from Tunisian simple stitch is where the hook goes on the forward pass — between the two strands of each stitch instead of under one vertical bar.
That single change in hook placement is what makes Tunisian knit stitch fabric look remarkably like real knitted stockinette from the front.
Tunisian knit stitch fabric curls at the edges much like actual knitting does, so plan a border in Tunisian simple stitch or single crochet if you need flat edges.
