Intermediate Textured

Blocks of front post and back post double crochet arranged to mimic a woven basket texture.

Work a base row or two in double crochet.
On the pattern rows, work front post double crochet around the post of each of the next 4 stitches, then back post double crochet around the next 4 stitches; repeat across the row.
On alternating tiers of rows, shift the grouping so the front post and back post blocks swap places — where you worked front post before, work back post, and vice versa.
Repeat the block pattern, alternating groupings every set of rows, to build up the woven checkerboard look.

Front post stitches pop toward you and back post stitches recede, so alternating 4-stitch blocks of each is what creates the illusion of an actual woven basket.
This texture uses noticeably more yarn than plain double crochet, since post stitches wrap around an extra loop of the stitch below.
Basketweave crochet pairs naturally with basketweave knitting as a technique name, but the actual mechanics — front and back post stitches versus knit and purl blocks — are completely different.
